China Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo was organized and sponsored by China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center and Department of Culture of Zhejiang Province. The previous two expos were the wonderful parts of the Hangzhou West Lake Expo. Now “moving” to Yiwu is mainly because of the culture industry characteristic and the advantages of international market here. It will provide a good chance for creating a productive protection platform for the traditional fine arts and crafts of “intangible cultural heritage” and also provide a strong support for the protection, inheritance, development and utilization of “intangible cultural heritage”.
In fact, some excellent artworks of “intangible cultural heritage” in Zhejiang had been exhibited in Yiwu Stationery & Arts Trade Fair for many years. There will be two eye-catching activities during the exhibition: the first one is the competition of the traditional art carving, engraving, and sculpturing by young people among the protection lists of “intangible cultural heritage” traditional techniques at the provincial level. The purpose of the selection is to cultivate and find the outstanding young people for promoting the preserve and development of “intangible cultural heritage” cause; the second activity is Provincial “Best Craftsmanship” Handcrafts Competition, which involves handcraft products and paper making, weaving, bamboo, pottery and porcelain and other traditional hand-making products.
